Behind the Hat: A Look at the Faces of Tower Grove Homes

Susie Gudermuth

On any given day in the general vicinity of Tower Grove Heights and South Grand, one might be treated to the sight of this strange creature sporting a ratty Gilligan-esque hat and patrolling the sidewalks, picking up the occasional scrap of litter. A number of questions may spring to mind. Does she work for the sanitation department? Why does she guard the Utah Place center strips so ferociously? Does she take headwear cues from L.L. Cool J.? Unfortunately, there are no clear answers to these questions. What we do know is that when she's not prowling the streets of the neighborhood, busily collecting refuse to line her nest for winter, she's at the helm of the mighty frigate that is Tower Grove Homes. And allegedly she has renovated a house or two.

Christy Andrews

Christy is Susie's personal assistant who minds the office while Susie continues her crusade to gut and renovate all in her path. Christy is the glue that holds the business together, and the notary that notarizes things. When you contact Tower Grove Homes via phone, the voice you hear probably belongs to her. If you get a postcard in the mail from TGH, she designed it. However, don't let her slight build, sunny disposition, and soft spoken manner deceive you: she is rumored to have been a member of the French Foreign Legion and is Susie's personal leg-breaker for delinquent renters. She frequently boasts that she knows 99 ways to kill or incapacitate a man in less than 5 seconds. I dare you to find out if she's telling the truth.

Joe Blake

If Christy is Susie's office assistant, Joe is Susie's field operative. While not proficient in the martial arts, he has been working with the company for years, and has nearly as much of his blood and sweat invested in her endeavors as Susie. His easygoing nature, dependability, and industry have all been invaluable assets to the expansion of the Tower Grove Homes empire. Also, years from now, anthropologists will study the cartoons he has etched on the walls of gutted houses. However, his affability and prowess as a cartoonist masks his heartbreak ever since a knee injury shattered his dreams of stardom as a Solid Gold dancer.

But seriously, folks

The TGH team is a group of individuals extraordinarily dedicated to the creation of the kind of houses and moreover the type of community in which everybody wants to live, and they hope that you will come partake in the fruit of their labor.
